What is Imaginative Education (IE)?

Our approach to engineering education is based on a learning theory called Imaginative Education (IE), developed by researcher Kieran Egan.  IE frames concepts in developmentally appropriate narrative and imaginative elements to engage emotionally engage students and give them a reason to care about what they're learning.  Topics or subjects that may not be initially appealing or engaging to learners become relevant and important when framed with IE cognitive tools.  It also makes teaching more fun for educators!
